The Domino Effect Program now has two separate courses. One program is hosted at the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women in Mitchellville, IA and the second program is located at the Fort Madison, IA Men's Prison. Both courses contain both online and in-person coursework.
The Women's Program/Course is designed to provide insight to those who serve at-risk populations. Participants will explore the risk factors and statistics around at-risk youth. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from women who can share what was successful or unsuccessful in the attempts to help them when they were in school.
The Men's Program/Course is designed to provide insight to those who serve at-risk populations. Participants will explore the risk factors and statistics around at-risk youth. Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to hear first hand from incarcerated men who can testify to successful and unsuccessful interventions adults attempted to help them while they were in school. Participants will also identify data related to their own school or organization around college readiness and post-graduate success. A background check is required per Federal PREA requirements. The background check is completed by the prison with information provided during the registration process.
